Day 234 of my 365 Project
This afternoon, we didn’t have huge storms like we have had the past few days. I noticed the sun was being blocked by clouds, so I went outside to check out the sky. I couldn’t see the full extent of this at my house. My wife and I took a little drive to see what we could see. I found an area that didn’t have any trees in the way and this is what we saw. I had to do shoot in portrait mode and did a panorama to get whole storm cell. It was magnificent.
I updated my About Me page today. I added that I’m a veteran owned and operated business and that 10% of my sales will be going to the TACP Association. There is a link to the TACP Association for further information about them.
Day 233 of my 365 Project
This afternoon, we had storms popping around us again. There was lightning, heavy rain, and lots of wind. It was so cool. In between the rain showers, I went out to get some shots. It was a pretty epic sky again. As I was getting pictures, I noticed the clouds to my north, so I drove to check it out. This is what I saw. The storm cell was so big, it wouldn’t fit in my camera lens. I had to shoot a panorama to get the whole thing. It was massive. I’m glad I drove a little bit to see what was north of me.
Day 232 of my 365 Project
This afternoon, we had some pretty strong storms come through the area. I got some shots as it passed by the house. I had my camera body wrapped in a plastic bag with the lens poking out. It kept my camera body dry while I got some shots. When my wife got home from work, we did a little storm chasing while the storm was heading north. We got to the cemetery just outside of town and had a wonderful view of the storm. Lightning was popping like crazy (no lightning capture) and the clouds were epic. I took over 600 shots today from the storms coming in and the backside of the storm. It was a pretty cool day for shooting.
Day 231 of my 365 Project
This afternoon, my wife and I went storm chasing. There were some impressive storms in the area, so we checked them out. This beauty was east of me. I got a nice panorama shot of it. We chased for over an hour. We saw a bunch of lightning and lots of rain. I’m not sure if chasing will be on the agenda for tomorrow since there is play practice.
Day 230 of my 365 Project
This afternoon, there were some nice storms that came through and gave us some much needed rain. I noticed these clouds after checking the mail. It was pretty epic looking. I believe the forecast is for more storms tomorrow. There is no play practice so I might be able to go chasing. I sure hope so.
Day 229 of my 365 Project
This afternoon, my wife and youngest daughter were heading to town when we noticed this wonderful storm cell. I found a place to pull off the road so I could get some shots. When we started back towards town again, it started raining really hard. It was a really nice and impressive storm.
Day 228 of my 365 Project
This morning, we had to make a trip to Crowley, Louisiana to pick up our adopted son, who is in the play we are involved with. On the way there, I noticed this very beautiful cloud formation. I found a place on the side of the road to pull off and get some shots. I couldn’t get all of it shooting landscape, so I got a shot in portrait mode and got everything. It was really cool to see.
Day 227 of my 365 Project
This evening I wanted to get a shot of the Milky Way, which I can see when it gets dark. It’s a really cool sight to see. I got a shot of it last night because the sky was clear and I wanted a shot. When it finally got dark, I set up my camera and went outside. The clouds I thought was going to go away when the sun went down didn’t. I went on ahead and got a few shots and this is the best one. I did catch something flying but I’m not sure what it is. It took me a bit to edit the shot because it had a bunch of noise from shooting at a very high ISO (ISO 6400 to be exact). You can still see some of the stars from the Milky Way which is cool. When I get another clear night, I’ll post a clear one even if I have posted my picture of the day.
Day 226 of my 365 Project
This afternoon while supper was cooking, I went out to see what I could see for my picture of the day. I saw butterfly land on our wild weed garden in our front yard. I was able to get pretty close to get a decent shot of it. Pretty cool!!
Day 225 of my 365 Project
This afternoon, I was outside seeing what I could catch before my wife and I went on a walk. I was looking at the clouds when I noticed this plane on the horizon. The contrail was much bigger than I’ve normally seen on planes flying overhead. I was able to switch to the 75-300mm lens so I could get a close-up shot (or as close-up as I could). It was a very cool sight to see for sure.
