Day 240 of my 365 Project

Around lunch time, I went to pick up my wife from her part time job so we could go eat lunch and do some shopping. As we were heading to town, I noticed the clouds getting a bit heavier. When we turned to head to town, I saw this beauty and stopped to get some shots. I wasn’t able to go storm chasing today (yet again) but the chances for storms are pretty the next couple of days. Maybe, just maybe I can do a bit of chasing.

Day 239 of my 365 Project

I got up earlier than usual this morning. I looked outside and noticed some clouds to the north that looked promising from the window. I grabbed my camera and went outside to investigate. The clouds I saw weren’t as promising as I had hoped but I did see the above picture. I grabbed a few shots, went back inside and enjoyed some much needed coffee. This is the first sunrise I’ve gotten in a while. I didn’t get to storm chase again today. Oh well, maybe tomorrow (I hope). :)

Day 238 of my 365 Project

There weren’t any storms to chase today. The clouds looked pretty neat this afternoon but I was busy with getting things done so I didn’t get any shots. When I got home from play practice, I got a 30 minute star trail. There were clouds rolling in from the south and it made a nice addition to the star trail. The orange color is light pollution from town.

Day 237 of my 365 Project

I didn’t have to go storm chasing today. The storms came to me. My wife and I went and picked up a family member when we noticed the weather getting very interesting. My wife pulled up the radar app on my phone and there was lots of nasty stuff all around us. She watched a particular storm system heading towards our house so I drove us home pretty quickly so we could see it as it was coming in. This is one of the shots I was able to catch before the heavy rains and wind forced us inside. This was quite impressive as it was coming in.

Day 236 of my 365 Project

This afternoon, I decided to get sunset shots since it’s been a while since I last took sunset shots. My wife and I had to go next door and talk with her mom for a bit and check on our girls. They spent the night over there last night and we haven’t seen them since yesterday afternoon late. When we drove up, we noticed some storm clouds to the south. I got shots while she went in the house. After a few minutes, we drove to the powerplant to get sunset shots. It’s pretty open to get shots so we stayed for a few minutes. I kept noticing the storm to the south which was pretty impressive as the sun was going down. We drove to one of my spots where I check out storms to get some shots. This is one of the better shots I got. According to radar, the storm was a couple of hours south of me. We were impressed by the massiveness of the clouds.

I got some shots earlier today of some mushrooms in my yard. They are in the shape of a crescent moon. They are pretty cool looking. When I got home for a dinner theater, I noticed the skies were crystal. I got a star trail of the Milky Way. This is 69 shots at 30 seconds per shot merged together in Photoshop. I did get a couple of meteors during shooting of this star trail.

Day 234 of my 365 Project

This afternoon, we didn’t have huge storms like we have had the past few days. I noticed the sun was being blocked by clouds, so I went outside to check out the sky. I couldn’t see the full extent of this at my house. My wife and I took a little drive to see what we could see. I found an area that didn’t have any trees in the way and this is what we saw. I had to do shoot in portrait mode and did a panorama to get whole storm cell. It was magnificent.

I updated my About Me page today. I added that I’m a veteran owned and operated business and that 10% of my sales will be going to the TACP Association. There is a link to the TACP Association for further information about them.

Day 233 of my 365 Project

This afternoon, we had storms popping around us again. There was lightning, heavy rain, and lots of wind. It was so cool. In between the rain showers, I went out to get some shots. It was a pretty epic sky again. As I was getting pictures, I noticed the clouds to my north, so I drove to check it out. This is what I saw. The storm cell was so big, it wouldn’t fit in my camera lens. I had to shoot a panorama to get the whole thing. It was massive. I’m glad I drove a little bit to see what was north of me.

Day 232 of my 365 Project

This afternoon, we had some pretty strong storms come through the area. I got some shots as it passed by the house. I had my camera body wrapped in a plastic bag with the lens poking out. It kept my camera body dry while I got some shots. When my wife got home from work, we did a little storm chasing while the storm was heading north. We got to the cemetery just outside of town and had a wonderful view of the storm. Lightning was popping like crazy (no lightning capture) and the clouds were epic. I took over 600 shots today from the storms coming in and the backside of the storm. It was a pretty cool day for shooting.

Day 231 of my 365 Project

This afternoon, my wife and I went storm chasing. There were some impressive storms in the area, so we checked them out. This beauty was east of me. I got a nice panorama shot of it. We chased for over an hour. We saw a bunch of lightning and lots of rain. I’m not sure if chasing will be on the agenda for tomorrow since there is play practice.
