This afternoon late, I went for a drive to find my picture of the day. The last time I went out storm chasing, I saw a building that looked like an abandoned building. At night, it looked pretty impressive. It wasn’t impressive during the day. On the way, I saw this tree and got a few shots of it. I processed it in Photomatix, Lightroom and Photoshop.
This afternoon, I went on a photowalk in McDonough, Georgia to get some exercise. I was able to get a few shots but this one was the coolest. It is from the Baptist church not far from the square. I made it black and white in Lightroom, and dropped the clarity to give it a dreamy effect. I added a couple of textures in Photoshop.
This morning when I got up and looked outside and noticed this line of mushrooms in the grass. Unless something epic came up today, this was going to be my picture of the day. I got a couple of shots of it from different angles to see which one I wanted to use. I added three textures in Photoshop to get the above effect.
Something cool happened to me yesterday late I want to share. On Facebook, the National Weather Service in Shreveport, Louisiana had a contest to submit weather pictures and they would use one of them as their cover photo. Well, I won. Here is the shot that won.

This morning, I was walking from my in laws house (they live next door) and noticed one of the rose bushes had roses on it. I grabbed a shot with my phone which I will post later. I went to the house, grabbed my camera and macro attachment, went back, and grabbed a few shots. I really like this one and played with it quite a bit in Photoshop with textures and adjustment layers.
This afternoon while walking from checking the mail, I noticed there were mushrooms in the yard. I went and got my camera and grabbed a few shots. I did a bracketed shot so I could process it in HDR. I added a couple of textures to enhance it a bit more.
Just a reminder – all of my pictures are for sale. If you are interested, please let me know via my Contact Page and we can discuss prices. Thanks.
This afternoon I went walking around my front yard to see what I could catch for my picture of the day. I was going to do a dandelion in HDR but the wind was blowing so that was out of the question. As I was informed there was a dragonfly in the weeds. I tried to get a shot but it flew away and landed on another weed. I got some shots of it. It let me get pretty close to it. It flew away and landed another place. I got a few more shots of it and at close range again too. I believe they like to get their picture taken. This isn’t the first time I’ve been able to have a photo shoot with a willing dragonfly. Fun stuff on a cloudy, muggy Sunday afternoon here in southern Louisiana.
I know it’s a bit late for my picture of the day but I was busy updating the laptop from our church and it took quite a few hours. I also had to process 1224 for a timelapse and this cloud smear. It takes a long time to convert that many shots into a jpg (I do a mass conversion from RAW files to jpg in Lightroom) and then run the action on those jpg files to create the cloud smear. I would post the timelapse but it’s a pretty big file and my Internet would choke if I tried to. When I get to really good Internet, I will upload some of my better, longer timelapses.
This afternoon I was sitting in my chair at my desk when I looked outside and noticed a spider in it’s web. The sun was hitting her just right. I got my camera and put my 75-300mm lens on and got a few shots. I added a couple of curves adjustment layers and three textures. As I’m typing this, the sun isn’t hitting her and she can barely be seen. Right place. Right time.
I wanted to get a shot of this beauty since it bloomed by my house a few days ago. I took the opportunity this afternoon to get a few shots. I did a couple of bracketed shots, -2, 0. +2 and -1 , 0 , +1 so I could process a five (5) shot HDR picture. I exported the pictures in Photomatix Pro and didn’t have to move the sliders very much because the colors came out amazing.
I wanted to let everyone know, all of my pictures are for sale. Please send me a request on my Contact Page if you are interested in buying a print. I’m going to update my blog with a page to list prices and available sizes.
Late this morning, I did a timelapse of the clouds building to my west. I took over 1400 pictures for the timelapse. When I downloaded the shots, I noticed a big black spot in the first picture. After processing the shots, I ended up with two black spots in my pictures. Why, I have no idea but I processed the pictures any way for a cloud smear. After the cloud smear processed, I added a couple of textures in Photoshop.
