This afternoon, we had storms popping around us again. There was lightning, heavy rain, and lots of wind. It was so cool. In between the rain showers, I went out to get some shots. It was a pretty epic sky again. As I was getting pictures, I noticed the clouds to my north, so I drove to check it out. This is what I saw. The storm cell was so big, it wouldn’t fit in my camera lens. I had to shoot a panorama to get the whole thing. It was massive. I’m glad I drove a little bit to see what was north of me.
This afternoon, we had some pretty strong storms come through the area. I got some shots as it passed by the house. I had my camera body wrapped in a plastic bag with the lens poking out. It kept my camera body dry while I got some shots. When my wife got home from work, we did a little storm chasing while the storm was heading north. We got to the cemetery just outside of town and had a wonderful view of the storm. Lightning was popping like crazy (no lightning capture) and the clouds were epic. I took over 600 shots today from the storms coming in and the backside of the storm. It was a pretty cool day for shooting.
This afternoon, my wife and I went storm chasing. There were some impressive storms in the area, so we checked them out. This beauty was east of me. I got a nice panorama shot of it. We chased for over an hour. We saw a bunch of lightning and lots of rain. I’m not sure if chasing will be on the agenda for tomorrow since there is play practice.
This afternoon, there were some nice storms that came through and gave us some much needed rain. I noticed these clouds after checking the mail. It was pretty epic looking. I believe the forecast is for more storms tomorrow. There is no play practice so I might be able to go chasing. I sure hope so.
This afternoon, my wife and youngest daughter were heading to town when we noticed this wonderful storm cell. I found a place to pull off the road so I could get some shots. When we started back towards town again, it started raining really hard. It was a really nice and impressive storm.
This morning, we had to make a trip to Crowley, Louisiana to pick up our adopted son, who is in the play we are involved with. On the way there, I noticed this very beautiful cloud formation. I found a place on the side of the road to pull off and get some shots. I couldn’t get all of it shooting landscape, so I got a shot in portrait mode and got everything. It was really cool to see.
Yesterday, my wife and I had the opportunity to go storm chasing or we actually got chased by a storm. Here are some shots from the chase.
I got this shot as we were about head out and set up. It got to us faster than we expected so we had to go south to stay in front of the storm front.
I got this up the road as few miles from the storm front picture. I noticed the view and had to get shots. The wind was picking up and the storm front was looking pretty epic so we took off to get in front of the storm. My picture of the day yesterday was the storm front we were trying to get in front of so we could get shots and video.
This was at my favorite spot to catch storms in Branch, Louisiana. The sky was so cool looking I had to get a panorama of it. At the bottom left center of the picture, there is a farmer trying to harvest his rice as fast as he can before the rains came.
I got to do some storm chasing today. Actually, the storms were chasing me. I did everything to stay in front of the storm coming in so I could get some shots. This is one of the best storm front shots I’ve gotten. The wind was blowing debris around. I was certain there was going to be some sort of funnel cloud but alas nothing was seen. I’m going to post more pictures from this storm tomorrow sometime.
This afternoon, we had a nice storm come up from the southeast and gave us a nice lightning show. I got a timelapse of it but it’s too big for me to upload right now. I caught this after I finished the timelapse and before my battery died on me. The rain chances are pretty good here in southern Louisiana for the next week so I might be able to get some lightning. I’ll be busy with play practices and working on my photography business.
This afternoon, I was able to get some nice storm shots right outside my house. This was a pretty impressive storm cell. While getting some shots, I saw something weird in the clouds. I have no idea what it is. I was able to get a timelapse of it. It’s jerky because the shots I took were hand-held.
