On our way to play practice, we noticed the skies were pretty epic. We stopped at the cemetery to get some clear shots. I was able to get a panorama of the storm coming in. It was fun to get some chasing in today.
Around lunch time, I went to pick up my wife from her part time job so we could go eat lunch and do some shopping. As we were heading to town, I noticed the clouds getting a bit heavier. When we turned to head to town, I saw this beauty and stopped to get some shots. I wasn’t able to go storm chasing today (yet again) but the chances for storms are pretty the next couple of days. Maybe, just maybe I can do a bit of chasing.
I didn’t have to go storm chasing today. The storms came to me. My wife and I went and picked up a family member when we noticed the weather getting very interesting. My wife pulled up the radar app on my phone and there was lots of nasty stuff all around us. She watched a particular storm system heading towards our house so I drove us home pretty quickly so we could see it as it was coming in. This is one of the shots I was able to catch before the heavy rains and wind forced us inside. This was quite impressive as it was coming in.
This afternoon, we didn’t have huge storms like we have had the past few days. I noticed the sun was being blocked by clouds, so I went outside to check out the sky. I couldn’t see the full extent of this at my house. My wife and I took a little drive to see what we could see. I found an area that didn’t have any trees in the way and this is what we saw. I had to do shoot in portrait mode and did a panorama to get whole storm cell. It was magnificent.
I updated my About Me page today. I added that I’m a veteran owned and operated business and that 10% of my sales will be going to the TACP Association. There is a link to the TACP Association for further information about them.
This afternoon, we had storms popping around us again. There was lightning, heavy rain, and lots of wind. It was so cool. In between the rain showers, I went out to get some shots. It was a pretty epic sky again. As I was getting pictures, I noticed the clouds to my north, so I drove to check it out. This is what I saw. The storm cell was so big, it wouldn’t fit in my camera lens. I had to shoot a panorama to get the whole thing. It was massive. I’m glad I drove a little bit to see what was north of me.
This afternoon, we had some pretty strong storms come through the area. I got some shots as it passed by the house. I had my camera body wrapped in a plastic bag with the lens poking out. It kept my camera body dry while I got some shots. When my wife got home from work, we did a little storm chasing while the storm was heading north. We got to the cemetery just outside of town and had a wonderful view of the storm. Lightning was popping like crazy (no lightning capture) and the clouds were epic. I took over 600 shots today from the storms coming in and the backside of the storm. It was a pretty cool day for shooting.
This afternoon, my wife and I went storm chasing. There were some impressive storms in the area, so we checked them out. This beauty was east of me. I got a nice panorama shot of it. We chased for over an hour. We saw a bunch of lightning and lots of rain. I’m not sure if chasing will be on the agenda for tomorrow since there is play practice.
This afternoon, my wife and youngest daughter were heading to town when we noticed this wonderful storm cell. I found a place to pull off the road so I could get some shots. When we started back towards town again, it started raining really hard. It was a really nice and impressive storm.
Yesterday, my wife and I had the opportunity to go storm chasing or we actually got chased by a storm. Here are some shots from the chase.
I got this shot as we were about head out and set up. It got to us faster than we expected so we had to go south to stay in front of the storm front.
I got this up the road as few miles from the storm front picture. I noticed the view and had to get shots. The wind was picking up and the storm front was looking pretty epic so we took off to get in front of the storm. My picture of the day yesterday was the storm front we were trying to get in front of so we could get shots and video.
This was at my favorite spot to catch storms in Branch, Louisiana. The sky was so cool looking I had to get a panorama of it. At the bottom left center of the picture, there is a farmer trying to harvest his rice as fast as he can before the rains came.
I got to do some storm chasing today. Actually, the storms were chasing me. I did everything to stay in front of the storm coming in so I could get some shots. This is one of the best storm front shots I’ve gotten. The wind was blowing debris around. I was certain there was going to be some sort of funnel cloud but alas nothing was seen. I’m going to post more pictures from this storm tomorrow sometime.
