Last night, I went out storm chasing and got 102 shots. These are the best ones from the chase. I will post more later today after I’ve gone through and edited some more. I was trying to post this last night but my power went out. It’s back on so I can take care of editing more pictures and posting more awesomeness from last night.
I went swimming this afternoon and saw this magnificent set of clouds to my southeast. I checked the radar and they were down by the coast, which is a couple of hours away. I drove a few minutes to one of my favorite spots to get storm shots and got a few pictures. I thought the rice bins would be a nice addition to the picture.
I got this shot about two hours after sunrise. The clouds were pretty amazing so I got a couple of shots. Today was a short day of shooting for me. I only got two shots with my camera. This one and another one of the clouds. Tomorrow will hopefully be better since there is a nice chance of storms in the afternoon.
This afternoon late, I went for a drive to find my picture of the day. The last time I went out storm chasing, I saw a building that looked like an abandoned building. At night, it looked pretty impressive. It wasn’t impressive during the day. On the way, I saw this tree and got a few shots of it. I processed it in Photomatix, Lightroom and Photoshop.
This afternoon, I went out to check out the weather. The radar looked a bit impressive when I headed out. As I got out there, the storms had dissipated a bit. I caught this panorama north of Crowley, Louisiana. The forecast is favorable for better chasing tomorrow and Saturday.
I decided to do sunset shots this evening. I didn’t regret my decision to do so. It was another incredible sky to witness. It was a blue sky until the afternoon/evening when some clouds showed up. The clouds made the sunset spectacular. I bracketed my shot so I could get all of the color out of it.
This afternoon, I went out chasing some storms. I drove around and got quite a few shots but no lightning. A huge disappointment there but maybe next time. Heading back to the house, I caught this beauty while stopped for utility work on the main highway. The drive home was very windy and heavy rains. No hail thank goodness. I have a sun roof on my car. The best part about the weather today was playing with my youngest daughter in the heavy rain at the house. Fun stuff!!
This evening I went out to get a timelapse of a cloud that looked like it had potential to intensify. It didn’t. I got it fizzling out. I was able to get quite a few sunset shots. It was pretty epic this evening. The clouds helped it out quite a bit. There are chances for storms the rest of the week so I might be able to get storm shots or decent sunsets.
This evening, we went out to get sunset shots at this field of sunflowers. The clouds weren’t as epic as last night but it was still pretty neat. With this edit, I did the initial processing in HDR because I bracketed the shot. When I did the edit in Lightroom, I pulled all the color out except for the sunflowers. I bumped up the saturation and luminance of the sunflowers to give it some pop. I added a couple of textures in Photoshop to finish it up.
This evening, the sunset was absolutely gorgeous. The clouds from storms earlier today hung around and gave us a beautiful show. This is one of the best sunsets I’ve seen in a while.
