Day 269 of my 365 Project
Today is a special milestone in my photography. Explanation time – the numbers I put as the title have two meanings. The first one tells of the picture of the day for this year. The second number is the total number of days I’ve taken a picture of the day. So today is my 1,000th day in a row I’ve taken a picture of the day. I went out to get sunset shots this evening because it looked so cool. Not bad for my 1,000th picture of the day in my opinion.
I want to personally thank everyone who has followed, liked, and commented on my blog these past couple of years. It is greatly appreciated. Now on to my next 1,000 pictures.
Day 268 of my 365 Project
This is an attempted 360 degree panorama shot while getting sunset shots this evening. I got in the middle of the road and started shooting in a circle before cars drove by. This is 22 shots merged together. Not bad for my 999th picture of the day. I’m not sure what I’m going to do for my 1,000th picture of the day tomorrow. I’m still thinking on that.
Day 267 of my 365 Project
I got this sunset in a different area than I usually get my sunset shots. I loaded up the whole family, minus my son, and drove west of town to get some sunset shots. I got 76 shots and came back home so I could edit and post my picture. I had quite a few really good shots to chose from but really liked this one. I didn’t edit this at all in Lightroom and only used a Detail Enhancer action in Photoshop. Nothing else.
Day 266 of my 365 Project
Today was an awesome fall day here in southern Louisiana. As the day progressed, I noticed high clouds in the area. It had been a while since my last sunset, I went out and shot it this evening. It was gorgeous. This is a four shot panorama in portrait mode. I really love getting sunset shots.
Day 262 of my 365 Project
I knew it was going to be a late night tonight because after the play, the cast and crew are going out to eat and hang out. I went walking around this afternoon to see what I could shoot. The clouds were pretty cool so I got a couple of shots. I thought to myself that I don’t remember ever doing a shot down the road with my camera on the ground. So, I grabbed a couple of shots. When I started editing my shots, I really liked this one. Since the infrared editing process is still something new to me, I ran the Infrared action just to see what it would look like. The above picture is it. I thought it came out pretty cool looking.
On a side note, I got to thinking today. Next Friday will be my 1,000th picture of the day. I’m pretty stoked about it. I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet. I have a week to figure it out. Thanks to everybody who has followed me throughout this journey. It is greatly appreciated.
Day 261 of my 365 Project
Sorry for the late post. I had a play performance this evening. After the performance, I checked my radar app and there were some really nice thunderstorms in the area. As we were driving home, we didn’t see any lightning. When we got home, I kept checking the skies for lightning. Nothing for a little bit. After about 20 – 30 minutes of being at home, I saw some flashes. Melody and I dropped the kids off next door and went to one of my storm spotting areas to see what was going on. As we got to the spot to set up, the storm stopped producing lightning. Not pleased but I got a few shots. Maybe next time. Maybe…
Day 260 of my 365 Project
This afternoon, I got a video update from Serge Remelli. He is one of my favorite people to watch on YouTube for editing pictures. Today’s video was about converting your pictures into an infrared look. Here is the video just in case you are interested in seeing how to create it. I took this shot right before leaving for our performance. I really like this effect.
Day 259 of my 365 Project
This afternoon, Melody (my wife) and I got to do a bit of storm chasing/spotting. We went north of town to check out some intense storms. One of the places we stopped, there was this tree with the storm behind it. We both got some shots of it. I thought it looked really good in black and white. When I processed it in Lightroom, I cut the contrast on one of the pictures and boosted the contrast in another. I merged the two pictures together, pulled out the tree from the high contrast edit and kept the clouds from the cut contrast edit. The tree made a nice addition to the shooting.
Day 258 of my 365 Project
This evening, the director of the play we are involved with wanted pictures. She is going to do an article for the local paper about how the community theater is a family affair. My whole family, five of us, are involved in the play. Three of the actors in the play has/had family members involved with the play. After the picture, my in-laws and family went to get a bite to eat in town. We noticed the clouds were building quite nicely so I grabbed a few shots in town. After eating, I checked the radar and the storms had dissipated. No storm spotting this evening. Maybe tomorrow since there isn’t a performance. I can only hope.
Day 255 of my 365 Project
This afternoon, we had some really nice storms come through. My wife and I went out to see what was heading our way. This shot was taken when the storm got fairly close to us. It’s two shots merged together. There was lots of lightning but I wasn’t able to catch any. Maybe next time.
